About: Sally Weld designed her house from a derelict Mill surrounded by a web of water channels, including an Archimedes Screw. The garden is designed around the waterways. A historic converted mill house on the River Frome that blends original features with contemporary living. Inside, a striking glass floor reveals the mill’s leat. Outside, the gardens are carefully and sensitively planted to provide colour in all seasons. Wildlife, including swans, ducks, kingfishers and an abundance of garden birds live peacefully alongside the impressive hydro-electric Archimedes screw, which produces the energy for the property from the power of the river. Impressive shrub garden, hosta beds and old carp ponds can be found close to the ruins of Bindon Abbey, a twelfth-century Cistercian monastery
