Tim Richardson is a landscape historian and critic who is the author of more than 20 books on the subject; the latest being the subject of this lecture. He has been gardens editor at Country Life and a regular columnist in the Daily Telegraph.
Tim will describe the evolution of the English landscape garden across the 18th century by means of ten exemplary gardens, from Castle Howard to Stowe to Painshill. His method is biographical, given that gardens of this period were often expressions of the personalities and beliefs of the people who made them.
